
Norfloxacin
Indications:
Norfloxacin is use to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections and cystitis caused by susceptible gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It can also treat venereal diseases such as gonorrhea caused by N, gonorrhoeae. Norfloxacin can is also effective in the treatment of prostatitis which is caused by E, coli. This medication may be prescribed for other uses, ask the doctor for more information.
How to take:
Norfloxacin is taken as directed by the physician. It can be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. It is highly recommended to drinking lots of fluids during Norfloxacin therapy. Some products containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron and zinc cannot be taken 2 hours before and after taking Norfloxacin. If a dose is missed, take one as soon as possible. Continue to take this antibiotic even if you feel well, do not stop taking without talking to the doctor.
Precautions:
Before taking Norfloxacin, inform the doctor of any allergies to norfloxacin and other antibiotics as well as other medications. Also inform the doctor of the medicines currently taken such as other antibiotics, anticoagulants, cyclosporine, theophylline and vitamins. It is advised to take any medications that contain iron or zinc 2 hours before or after Norfloxacin therapy. Norfloxacin can cause drowsiness therefore do not engage in activities that require mental alertness. Also alcohol intake can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. For prolonged exposure to the sun, it is advisable to wear protective clothing and gear; this drug can make skin sensitive to sunlight.
